New to Adtran I have a UC server on Server 2008 also a netvanta 3430 that i do not own the 3430 is owned by our ISP. My question is does my phones register for SIP protocol on the server or would they register through the 3430. The reason i ask we are moving to new ISP but keeping the phone system but when we move the 3430 will go back to the ISP.
If you have the ECS product which is acting as a PBX, then the phones will be registering to the UC Server. I assume the 3430 is proving access to your SIP Trunk for PSTN access?
If your swapping carriers and your doing SIP Trunking, make sure they provide you with a SIP aware router/Firewall like the 3430 which is probably running our SBC firmware.

Does it have to be another 3430 or can it be whatever that allows SIP Trunking?
Just another SIP Aware Router/Firewall.
