Updating 7100 directory using command line

Jump to solution

Hi,

I changed the first name and last name of a user account in 7100.

I tried to update my ip phones directories using instructions in  "Updating the Global Phone Directory" pdf.

And this successfully update this entry in Global Directory Entries in IP Phone Globals section.

But this does not applied to the actual phone directories.

I read in release note of system release R10.3.1 in Errata section  that  "The Update Directories action in the GUI does not properly update the directories for individual Polycom

phones", I read this also in System release R10.5.0.

And as a second point , when I manually update the entry for each IP phone using Other Directory Entries tab in Ip Phone Config section and reboot the phone, the updates reflected successfully in the phone.

So instead of manually applied the update in each phone , I need a way to update Directories if not in GUI "as stated in Errata of system release" ,can we update it using command line.?

kindly find the show version output:

Mostafa,

Changing the name is a multi-step process especially for Polycom phones.  This short video should contain all of the needed instructions to make the name appear on the other phones: [video] - Changing the Name Assigned to a Phone Extension on the NetVanta 7100.  Follow the steps outlined there and let me know if that does not work.

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Updating 7100 directory using command line

Sorry for reopen this discussion again,

But after watch your posted video and follow its instructions but the last name and first name did not change "in polycom phones only",

when I opened the directory file of Polycom phones "show file cflash /Polycom/000000000000-directory.xml " , the first and last name changed successfully,

but when I opened the directory file of specific phone like "show file cflash /Polycom/0004f2aa671c-directory.xml" the first and last name did not change.

But the directory changed successfully in all Adtran phones IP706 and IP712.

So any ideas regarding this issue?

Polycom phones contain IP331 application version 3.2.7

                                     IP501 application version 3.1.8

                                     IP430 application version 3.2.7

                                     IP650 application version 3.2.7

                                     IP6000 application version 3.2.7

and I clarified above the release of note of both R10.3.1 and R10.5.0 there is an errata:

"The Update Directories action in the GUI does not properly update the directories for individual Polycom

phones"

Kindly note that if I delete an user account then update the directory the update does not reflect to Polycom phones.

Kindly find the show version output of my NV7100:

After searching version R10.5.2 system release notes says that it fix this issue as "The Update Directories link did not properly update the directories for individual Polycom phones" I'll test then feed you back.
