Netvanta 7100 doesnt create phone config files anymore

We have had a Netvanta 7100 for some time and recently had to reappropriate a phone for a new user. It was the kitchen phone and I renamed it. The phone would show like it was connected but it didn't register. I thought it was the phone and took a new one out there. This one also didn't register. Long story short while it looks like the phone.cfg file is being created it's not so when the phone boots and tries to download it doesn't. Is the flash corrupt? or what could be causing this to happen? thanks in advance.

If you just renamed the phone and rebooted it should come back up just fine.  If you reset the config on the phone or reset it to factory default then you have to make sure that you have the right settings on the phone for it to find the ftp server.
