Is there a maximum number of status groups that can be created on the 7100. Customer is wanting to have a unique status group for each of their employees but I was thinking there is a limited number of groups that can be created and they have over 50 users. I searched but could not find the answer in the documentation or forums.
Doesn’t look like there is a hard limit, I just created 113 Status Groups in my 7100.

You can only assign one BLF to a phone. Polycom has a hard set limit of 32 users per phone. So even if you had 3 expansion modules for example to the 650/670 you can only monitor 32 users.
From what I have heard they are increasing it to 132 users for the VVX phones with their expansion modules.

Mark, I want to create a separate status group for each phone. Not asking how many BLF's to a phone or number of users per status group. How many status groups can you create on the Netvanta 7100, is there a limit?

One other thing you need to check while adding all these and assigning them to phones is you need to monitor the amount of free RAM that is available. It all depends on what else you have configured on your box. There is no limit on how many you can create, just on how much free RAM you have available once you start applying them to phones.
Here is how you monitor them, you will need to monitor the HeapFree number which is in bytes:

Memory Heap:
HeapFree: 35339248
HeapSize: 86690800

I don't think there is a specfic guidance for this either, but then again I have not seen this as a common use case either. That said, I will recommend starting small and perhaps enable 10 users at a time for unique Status groups, monitor it for a few days, and then come back and do the next ten.
Mark, here is my output, not really sure how to read this since there are 19 blocks. I am about to begin the setup of the additional status groups so does it appear I have enough free at this point?

Remember,
What you want to look is the HeapFree, so by your output, you still have 10M free which is a lot. A good rule of them, is don’t let it get below 5M. Hope that helps.

So, is it not possible to create 2 Status Groups each including 32 different extensions to be able to monitor more than 32 users? I was just thinking of doing that. Appreciate any input.
You can only assign one status group to a phone.

Mark, the 32 user per expansion module limit seems counter intuitive to the very existence of the device. Is this only imposed when used on the Adtran 7100? Why would Polycom even make a device that has more buttons than it can use? And moreover, a device that can be daisy-chained 3 or 4 times when limited to 32. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding?
