Configuring a fax on the 7100 with analog trunk

Jump to solution

I have found the guide to configure a fax on the AOS products but it doesn't really tell me how to setup when the line will be shared.  My customer only has two analog lines.  I would like to use their primary on FXO 0/1 and the secondary on FXO 0/2.  fax will be on FXS 0/2.  Can I share that secondary analog line and if a fax comes in it will grab that line. If it is not a fax can it then be routed to auto attendant like FXO 0/1.  I am not sure how to set this up.  I have not setup a fax on a 7100.  We always used some kind of device called a Stick or had a dedicated line for the fax.  Basically I want the customer to have two voice lines available where the second line can also send and receive faxes when not is use for voice.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

The NetVanta 7100 cannot reroute the call depending on if it detects a fax by itself.  You can accomplish that by pairing the NetVanta 7100 with a NetVanta UC server, turning this setup into a BCS, and then using the Single Number Reach feature.

Would it work to have inbound calls on one of the lines always directed to a fax machine, but that line could be used for outbound calls too?

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks for your reply Matt, they would like to receive faxes at this number in the event fax tones were heard, if no tones heard then forwarded to a virtual user or the autoattendant.  faxes will only come in on this secondary line and not the primary line.  But they would like to have a second line in the event someone is on the primary line. Really don't want to put a three phone/user install on the UCS or BCS:)

Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately the NetVanta 7100 currently can't reroute calls internally based on fax detection.  I went ahead and marked the Correct Answer on this post to make it more visible to others.

Thanks,

Matt
