Incorrect secondary DNS entry: what effect?

Jump to solution

Howdy, just curious to know what the effect, if any, would be if an ADTRAN 1224R had a wrong address for it's 2nd DNS entry?

Thanks,

Rich

If the primary DNS resolver is unreachable or down, the unit itself will not be able to resolve hostnames to addresses.

If you have "domain-proxy" configured or the incorrect second resolver is configured on a DHCP pool, then hosts behind the unit or part of the pool will be unable to resolve hostnames either, should the primary DNS resolver fail or become unreachable.
