1238Hello,
I have a customer that is trying to get rid of their wireless devices that are sending video feeds to decoders for tv's. After placing all the decoders and the main tv router on the switch it will pass traffic for a few seconds and then stop passing nothing. The switch is pretty much defualt, I'm sure that's the problem but what am I missing as I have never dealt with this before? What needs done to the switch so it will pass the traffic for their tv's?.
I'm sure this will be an easy one for someone.

No. It has been resolved with a firmware upgrade.

Thank you for asking this question in the support community. Is there any additional information you can provide about the application? With the NV1238 connected to the decoders and main TV router, video traffic works fine, but then will stop passing after a few seconds? How do you get the traffic to pass again? Does non-video traffic work? What firmware version is the NV1238 running?

Yes, the switch will pass the traffic to the decoders for a few seconds. The way to get this traffic to pass again is to reboot the switch, then the same cycle of running for a few seconds and stopping. Straight internet traffic for PC's passes fine. It just seems to have an issue with multicast traffic. I will need to go site to check the firmware vs the switch is running.

Based on that information it's difficult to determine what is happening. The first thing I suggest in a multicast environment is to enable IGMP snooping. You can enable this with the global command ip igmp snooping. Hopefully, the "main TV router" will manage the multicast IGMP messages, but enabling it on the switch should help.
