How to create different signaling on INVITE and REGISTER

I could use some help controlling the FROM host on INVITE and REGISTER. For example:

REGISTER case FROM: sip:user@domain (or sip-server)

INVITE case FROM: sip:2065551212@outbound-proxy

Is this doable and if so, how?
