Using a Cisco console cable to connect to an Adtran console port

Jump to solution

Problem:

Adtran NetVanta routers have a RS232 female DB9 serial console port.

Most technicians carry a Cisco console cable (female DB9 to male RJ45).

These two are not compatible.

Solution:

Fashion an adapter to connect to the console port of the Adtran

router using a Cisco console cable. (attached PDF, tested this

weekend -- 6/2/2012 -- as working).

deckhopper,

Thanks for sharing this with the community!  Most of our products will work with a straight through serial cable, but this is great for those who use Cisco adapters.  Also, we have the pin out in the document below that will allow you to Cisco adapter with our products that use an RJ45 craft port if you don't have our particular RJ45 adapter:

Thanks again for posting this!

Thanks,
Matt
