Upgraded firmware and now the router won't boot up? Can't reset the router to factory either. The router boot the stat light goes green then orange and stays orange. Does anyone have any ideas ?
You're in bootstrap mode. It sounds like the firmware file you uploaded is corrupt or not compatible with that device. Plug in to one of the switchports, configure your PC with a static IP of 10.10.10.2 mask 255.255.255.0. Telnet to 10.10.10.1 and you should be able to TFTP new firmware. Probably best to erase any existing firmware first.
It also could be that there is a "boot system" command on the device that doesn't match the filename of the new firmware. In this case you'll either need to remove the configuration or TFTP an edited configuration with the proper "boot system" command or no such command at all in which case it will use the first valid file in flash.
This document gives the basics of using bootstrap mode, but it assumes a serial console. Because your device has none, you will need to push the reset button briefly as soon as the status light starts blinking green on power-up. With your device it will default to IP of 10.10.10.1 on the LAN interface when in bootstrap.
Thanks Jayh for the quick response. I actually did that before I posted this with the same results. I have about 20 of these Routers and blasted the same firmware in them but a hand full became unresponsive and won't boot anymore. The stat light goes green and then back amber and about 30 second does the same thing like it's just cycling or looping. I TFTP the firmware and the startup config and startup config bak. Not sure what to do in this case maybe the memory got corrupted.
Try pulling the AOS image from flash via TFTP and check its size and MD5 checksum against what you uploaded. It sounds like it may be corrupt. Maybe bad flash memory?
Thanks again for the help. I did what you said and there the same size. I just looked and the property to see what the size was because I didn't know what MD5 checksum was. So back to the same thing it never boots all the way it goes green and then orange but not in bootstrap mode because I have to use the reset button to make it go to bootstrap mode. I have a stupid question do I need a startup-config or should it just boot off the image ? I'm leaning towards memory issues bit just seems strange why did it happen to 5 routers in a row with the same firmware.
