I've configured a Netvanta 1544F to act as the DNS on a network. It is responsible for responding to DHCP address requests and proxying DNS requests. Periodically, the Windows domain controller will try to register itself with DNS. Instead of writing the info into it's DNS, the 1544F attempts to pass this info along to the name servers. Since the name servers are not local to the network, they reject the request.
Unfortunately, the ability to dynamically register/write a DNS entry to the DNS server of an AOS device is not supported. The DNS capabilities of an AOS device include adding static entries to its DNS host table as well as acting a DNS server proxy for your network by simply passing information on to the real DNS servers.
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks,
Noor
