Q&A - What does the Save button in the NetVanta 1560/ASE switch Web interface do?

Q&A - What does the Save button in the NetVanta 1560/ASE switch Web interface do?

Question:

In the web interface of the NetVanta 1560 series switches, what does the Save button on many of the pages actually do? If I use that button, I do not see any changes in the Startup-config.

Answer:

This button only saves the changes to the current running configuration and does not save these changes to the startup configuration. When you use the Save button, any changes are saved to the running-config and the changes are applied.

For NetVanta 1560 Series:  To save changes to the startup configuration file, in the NetVanta 1560 GUI, navigate to the Configuration tab, and select the Save startup-config link:

When prompted, select Save Configuration.

Update - v4.4-46 has changed the button on the confioguration screens to  Apply in order to reduce confusion.

For Netvanta 1570,1760-12F and 1760-8F:
When a configuration change has been made you will now see a prompt on the top right hand page of the GUI advising you to save the config. Clicking this icon will save the running-configuration to startup-configuration.
